Helping Hand-prints

Yesterday I covered a story about a HEALS clinic opening at an elementary school. HEALS stands for Healthy Establishments at Local Schools. The agency provides free medical and dental services to students who might not otherwise receive these services. While I was happy to cover the story, it's sad that some children never or rarely see doctors. At the HEALS clinics doctors and dentists volunteer their time to see the young patients. The children receive immunizations, child well visits and they get medication, if necessary. HEALS is an excellent program, but it only works when others help. They were able to open their fifth clinic yesterday, because they received a grant. During the grand opening yesterday many of the HEALS board members, volunteers and other supporters put their handprints on the walls. I hope this organization will continue to get helping hands from the community, to help the children who need them the most.
